December 2007Drop-In SessionsAlthough Kay Curtis has stepped down as Secretary of the Society and from the Committee she is still carrying on with her "Drop-in" sessions for beginners. Dates for these sessions will be announced at the monthly meetings as and when they are going to happen. Who Do You Think You Are? LiveThis event was so successful in 2007 that it is being staged again in May 2008. It has been upgraded to the Grand Hall and will be even bigger and more spectacular than before. As well as all the previous attractions there will be House History & Restoration Live, Military History Live and Archaeology Live and as well as the People's Museum there will be a designated Antiques Area. If we have enough interest we are thinking of booking a coach for the Saturday, May 3rd. If you would like to come would you please let the Chairman or Membership Secretary know. East of London FHSThe East Anglian Branch of the East of London FHS started in September. The reason it has been organised is that the parent society has noticed that many ex-Londoners and researchers with London ancestors appear to live in and around the area. With the co-operation of the Cambridgeshire FHS the East of London have arranged for meetings to be held on the last Saturday of each month from 2pm-4pm at Ely Library. The East of London bookstall will be at the meetings and some speakers have been arranged. |
