NBI CD Rom

The Committee, augmented by a show of hands at the March meeting, have decided to buy a copy of the new NBI CD Rom. It will be available to borrow with the borrower having the responsibility of sending it back when they have finished using it.

B.M.D. from the Royston Crow

Our next project is to be another ten years of the births, marriages and deaths from the Royston Crow. We shall, of course, be looking for volunteers to transcribe it. In the first instance this has to be done at Royston Library where the films are held. There will, hopefully, be a chance for our further flung members to get involved when we get to the checking stage.

Poetry

"Beacons of Remembrance" a poetry book with a difference by Jean Bingham. Jean has researched the First World War extensively and after visiting the battlefields was moved to write these poems. The book will be available from Armistice Day, Nov. 11th from The Hitchin British Schools Trust, telephone 01462 452697 at £6.99 or £8.50 to include U.K. postage and packing. This 60 page book is in full colour, illustrated with Jean's own photos and many pencil sketches by a young artist she met on the battlefields. There is a wealth of background information to accompany the photos. Of course your best plan would be to come to the January meeting to hear Jean's talk. That way you can save the cost of the postage and maybe get the author to sign it. Incidentally all proceeds from the sales of the book will be going, equally, to the Hitchin British Schools Trust and The Royal British Legion.
